So whose idea was it...

to start this tribe? I notice that it has only be around for a couple of months. It is nice to see that someone wants to remember where they went to school. FYI - I was in the class of '94. I haven't been back in a while but manage to stay in touch with a few people. Are you looking to expand this tribe or is it more of a 'whoever finds it can join' sort of thing?

Apologies for the long absence from the discussion. Yes, I was in the Russian program at D'son and went on to live in the Russian Far East for some years. After tiring of eating reindeer meat and getting frostbite I moved back to the US, went to grad school and then got married. Now I am finishing a tour in Tel Aviv with USAID and will be moving to La Paz, Bolivia in May.

Your last name wouldn't happen to begin with a "T" would it?

Yeah, my last name starts with a T ... :) I think we're on the same page. La Paz, eh? Nice gig. What are you gonna do down there?

Well, my wife is being assigned there since she is in the Foreign Service and I guess it is for the best if I go along. ;)
I have no idea what I personally will end up doing since I need to tackle learning Spanish first and then find a job. The primary thing will be to take lots of Diamox (for the altitude) and learn if coca tea is everything people say it is. After that I will definitely work in some travel and lots of excursions to see the area surrounding La Paz. Eventually I would like to get down into the Amazon just to see what it is like.

Have you ever travelled to S. America? If so, any recommendations?
